‘Minecraft’ Sales 15 Million Copies on PC

That's a lot of blocks!

“Minecraft” has sold over 15 million copies on PC/Mac/Linux says creator Markus “Notch” Persson.

The news comes directly from Notch’s Twitter account where he tweeted, “The original Minecraft has sold 15 million copies! Time to celebrate!” The tweet was fittingly accompanied by a picture of a sugar-free Red Bull with a thumbs up beside it.

This comes off news just two months ago in February where it was announced that “Minecraft” on PC/Mac/Linux sold 14 million copies. The game has been a success all over the place. Across iOS and Android alone, the pocket version of the game has sold over 21 million copies. Over on the console side, it has sold over 12 million copies of its Xbox 360 version and over 1 million of the newly release PS3 version.

The game is sure to see more success once it’s made available and more accessible on Sony’s Playstation platforms. A retail copy of the PS3 version is said to come soon along with digital versions on the PS Vita and PS4.

Also in the works is a motion picture based on the hit title in partnership with Warner Bros.

What platform are you mining and crafting on? Do you think your version is better? Sound off in the comments below.
