‘Game of Thrones’ Now The Most Watched Show
“The Sopranos” no longer sits upon the throne.
The widely popular fantasy drama is now averaging 18.4 million viewers every Sunday night. That’s up from the 14.4 million average that the third season had. The numbers are tallied up from original air viewings, as well as encores, on demand views and those from HBO Go.
According to Variety, no show has touched the popularity of the 18.2 million viewer milestone of “The Sopranos.” “Thrones” still hasn’t matched the 11.9 million original viewers that the finale of “The Sopranos” grossed, although its number, which on May 18 hit 7.195 million, is still pretty grand.
How does the show compare outside of HBO? Fairly well in fact. It now matches “The Walking Dead” which had an average of 18.4 million viewers during its fourth season as well. It even beats out shows on the big four networks like “The Blacklist,” “The Voice,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “American Idol.” Only three series ended their recent seasons with more than 18 million viewers: “Sunday Night Football,” “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory” (“The Big Bang Theory” brings in 23.1 million viewers per week.)
HBO isn’t quite know for raking in the highest numbers, but more about putting on quality content, and they seem to be doing both here. In YouNerded’s very own reviews of “Game of Thrones,” the show hasn’t scored below an 85/100 this season, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon.
“Game of Thrones” has just two episodes left in its fourth season.

Only 2 episodes left? Noooooo
It’s going to be a long 9 months.
The Sopranos was a HUGE series for HBO, probably pushing it over its competitors. I’ve always wondered how The Sopranos would have performed in today’s world where something like HBO GO us available.
With that said, Game of Thrones does an AMAZING job of keeping viewers on their toes. I don’t know which show has had more twists and turns: The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.
It’s a great day when the top shows are about nerdy things like dragons and zombies. Yay Us!
As it should be, this is by far one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately I don’t have HBO, so I can only watch it once the boxset releases.
Sorry to hear that. And yes, Game of Thrones, along with Fargo and True Detective show that the world of TV will thrive without Breaking Bad.
I feel so out of the loop, I still have not seen it.
I rarely advise against reading our content, but avoid our reviews for they contain dark spoilers.
lol, don’t worry I have been spoiled 1000 times over by the internet
