‘Orphan Black’ and ‘Broadchurch’ Renewed for Another Season
Sci-fi and drama fans can rejoice.
In a good but unsurprising move, BBC announced at the Television Critics Association press tour that the critically acclaimed Orphan Black and the freshmen murder drama Broadchurch would both be getting additional seasons. Orphan Black is set to shoot in September and debut this Spring, while Broadchurch is only set to return sometime next year.
The unsurprising Orphan Black renewal follows the show’s very strong second season, which won numerous awards. Orphan Black is also the only ad-supported drama to double its ratings from the first to the second season in the highly coveted Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 demographics. Tatiana Maslany stars as Sarah, an outsider who witnesses the death of a woman that looks exactly like her. Seeing an opportunity to make money, she poses as this woman, which leads to greater mysteries including that she and the woman she saw are clones.
Broadchurch stars David Tennant, and focuses on the small town murder of a young boy and the ensuing investigation and suspicion as everyone becomes a suspect.
