We’re back again with a fresh batch of issues waiting for you to get pulling. This week includes the debut of Multiversity, DC Comics’ new, highly anticipated series helmed by one of the best writers in the business, Grant Morrison, and another story from comics legend Jack Katz. Nova #20

We’ve got another Original Sin tie-in issue of Nova, written by Gerry Duggan (the tenth issue to feature his talents) and illustrated by Paco Medina. We can also expect to see an appearance from Marvel’s latest star, Rocket Raccoon as he helps Sam find out more information on the death of his father who previously donned the helm of Nova. It’s been great to see the growth of Sam Alexander since his initial appearance in the monumental event that was Avengers VS X-Men, and the future looks to be very bright for this relatively young hero.

First Kingdom HC Vol. 05

For those of you unfamiliar with Jack Katz, he is somewhat of pioneer in the field of comics, as he was one of the first writers to officially release a graphic novel with his piece First Kingdom. First Kingdom is the perfect blend of fantasy and science fiction, and in this fifth volume we see second to the last issue before the epic conclusion of the series. Yeah, this isn’t an ideal spot to jump into the series but have no fear, the other four volumes are currently available, and this is a series you definitely want to add to your collection.

Multiversity #1

What’s being pegged as DC’s biggest adventure in their history of publication, the first issue of Multiversity led by Grant Morrison is finally here. Having previously worked on titles such as 52, New X-Men, and JLA, he’s back with characters that made up the 52 different versions characters across the DC multiverse that include the Justice Riders of Earth-18, Superdemon, Doc Fate, the super-sons of Superman and Batman, and many many more. From the entire series you can expect to be treated to six different arcs set in different universes that parallel each other. This is surely going to be a very large and optimistic piece from DC, but they really have chosen the best man for the job in Grant Morrison, and it’s more than exciting to see how he’s going to pull it off just as he has continued to do for the past 30 years.

Steampunk Battlestar Galactica #1

The reason that I decided to include this all new spin on a very familiar series is because it just seems like every con-goer and nerd’s dream. I mean a comic featuring steampunk AND Battlestar is just something that is playing perfectly into two major crowds and is sure to be gone over with a fine tooth comb by each perspective fanbase. Stepping up to the task we have Tony Lee helming the series who is known for his work on many different Doctor Who series, with Aneke, formerly of Damsels, handling the artwork. The all new story follows Lady Athena as she ventures off into the pirate world known as Black Star where she has recruited help in order to find Apollo, the missing son of Archduke Adama. Check out this new series if you’re a fan of steampunk or Battlestar in this number 1 issues that’s sure to impress.

Fade Out #1

Last but certainly not least, we’ve got Fade Out, my personal must-have pull of the week. Fade Out is a fresh and original crime series in which the story follows a noir film that is currently in the middle of production. The film continues to struggle with amount of reshoots that are being called for, and the fact that lead writer of the film is continuing to have horrific dreams about war and is even starting to have premonitions of one of the star’s death. To make matters worse, the man at the helm of the film is a bit twisted, looking to catch whatever he can on camera as long as it is going to make good for the screen and more importantly the studio. If there’s one issue that you should pick up this week for sure, get your hands on this first issue of Fade Out as it’s sure to be lock with two of the best noir writers in the business collaborating for their first of many projects under Image Comics.
