‘Taken 3’ Renamed ‘Tak3n,’ Could be Last in the Series
Star Liam Neeson opens up on the aging franchise and his own age.
Star Liam Neeson talked to USA Today about the film, revealing a tiny morsel of what to expect in the third installment.
Tak3n will revolve around Neeson running from both sides of the law after he was framed for the murder of someone close to him. Neeson’s co-star Forest Whitaker, who plays a law enforcement officer trying to track Neeson down, brought up the idea for a Taken 4, but Neeson says that is unlikely.
“[The third film is] a rollicking good story,” Neeson said. “But I think this is the end.” When the aging actor was asked if he plans on slowing down on action movies, Neeson said: “If I feel audiences saying, ‘Come on, he’s 62, enough is enough,’ I’m very sensitive to that and if I pick up that vibe it will all stop. And I’ll start playing dads or grandfathers. But I keep myself pretty fit and my knees are still great. And it’s fun.”
Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace are both set to return to their roles as Neeson’s ex-wife and daughter, respectively, and Taken 2 director Olivier Megaton is also set to return.
Tak3n opens in theaters January 9.
