Robert Downey Jr. to Join ‘Captain America 3’ in ‘Civil War’
‘Civil War’ is on the horizon as Iron Man makes his way into the ‘Captain America’ franchise
After last week’s appearance on Ellen, Robert Downey Jr. had fans believing that he was only in negotiations to appear in the fourth installment of Iron Man. After a new report from Variety, it looks as if he was hiding a little something. It is now believed that the famed actor is in the last leg of negotiations to appear in the sequel to The Winter Soldier.
Kevin Feige and company will be looking to kickstart the story arc of the Civil War series originally written by Mark Millar, and debuted in 2006.
It’s no secret that the services of Downey aren’t going to come cheap. The reported contract being negotiated is set to pay the man in the iron suit $40 million or more. This would be a sound investment, with the potential to build up future stories to connect future titles.
And for those of you who are interested in what the official title of the third Captain America film will be, Badass Digest is reporting that the titles Civil War and Fallen Son have been popping up, both of which have ties to the Civil War event.
For those of you who missed the news last week, Marvel has also reportedly been in talks with Sony to work out a deal that would allow Spider-Man to appear in selected movies produced under the Marvel banner.
Is Marvel making the right move by pitting two of their biggest heros against each other? Is this the best route for Iron Man instead of another stand-alone film? Let us know in the comments below.
