Oscar Isaac Cast as the Title Villain in ‘X-Men Apocalypse’

The First One has been chosen.

Oscar Isaac has been cast to play Apocalypse in the next “X-Men.”

According to sources at Variety, Oscar Isaac has been cast to play Apocalypse in the third and final installment of the X-Men: First Class trilogy, X-Men: Apocalypse. This report comes just days after early rumors that Idris Elba was in talks to play the role that has now been snatched up by the Inside Llewyn Davis and Drive alum.

For those who don’t remember or didn’t see the post-credits clip for Days of Future Past, it featured a much younger version of Apocalypse aka En Sabah Nur or The First One. A similar version will likely appear again as the setting for the film is the ‘80s.

Bryan Singer is directing again and Simon Kinberg is writing, with Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy all signed on to reprise their roles from the previous films. Isaac is going to be another big name addition to the already star-studded cast.

Singer has also gone on to say that Apocalypse is going to feature more destruction than any other X-Men film, making this last piece of the trilogy a true spectacle.

This recent casting is just the latest piece to be added to Isaac’s booming resume, as he is also set to star in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can expect to see Apocalypse and the rest of the X-Men on the silver screen in May 2016.
