Beam him up Scotty!
According to an early report by Variety, Idris Elba has entered early talks to be featured in the upcoming popular sci-fi sequel Star Trek 3 as the lead villain. The role was previously rumored to be going to Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, with possible contract negotiations for Elba.
At this time there is no word on any details of the role in which Elba will be playing, but currently there are early rumors that Klingons would have a larger, more established role in the movie.
The film franchise has previously maintained a star studded cast that features Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin, all of which are set to return for the third installment.
J.J. Abrams, who directed the previous two installments, will now move into a production role. The franchise’s director vacancy is being taken by Justin Lin, who is best known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise. The film will also be written co-written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung.
You can expect to see the USS Enterprise back in action July 6, 2016.
