E3 2015: ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’ Announced
Sony and Guerrilla Games revealed a post-apocalyptic new exclusive shooter in the form of Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Set in the far future where our society is but a distant memory, what is left of humanity roams the earth armed with a curious mix of old and new technology—like a handmade bow and arrow with explosive rounds. Humanity now has to deal with roaming bands of robots, which have animal-like features. Horizon: Zero Dawn looks like a blend of The Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus, Terminator and Native American culture.
The announcement came with an extended gameplay trailer, which showcased Aloy, the female protagonist of the new game. The trailer showed Aloy hunting mechanical wildlife, culminating in a boss fight with a large robotic T-Rex. After defeating the monster, the trailer ended with a mechanoid pterodactyl swooping in and landing near Aloy. Cue the Jurassic Park theme.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is being developed by Guerrilla Games, which is best known for the Killzone franchise. A release date hasn’t been announced, though I would expect it sometime next year.
