‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Delayed to December 2017
Following unconfirmed reports that Episode VIII was undergoing rewrites, Disney announced today that its highly anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens has been pushed to Dec. 15, 2017, back from its original May 26, 2017 release date.
According to the rumors, Episode VIII is getting rewritten to focus more on The Force Awakens’ fan-favorite characters Rey, Finn and Poe over new characters. The rumor also claimed that the shooting would be delayed one month to accommodate the rewrites.
While Disney didn’t comment on the rumors, they did try to be positive about the announcement, claiming that the delay will give them more time to make the movie as best as possible. Disney also noted that The Force Awakens’ December release was wildly successful, which was also delayed from its original May 2015 release date.
