Sony has Sold 4.2 Million

Greatness sales

Sony announced today that the PS4 has sold 4.2 million units as of Dec. 28, 2013. This is double the 2.1 million units sold that release a little more than two weeks after the console’s launch.

This is also higher sales figure than the 3 million Xbox One units sold that Microsoft announced yesterday.

Sony released the PlayStation 4 back on Nov. 15, 2013 with rapid success. Although sales are dwindling slightly, keep in mind that not only the PS4, but the Xbox One as well each hit stores near black friday and the holidays. Also, the two consoles are likely to pick up steam with each expecting killer exclusives in March.

On March 21, the PS4 gets Infamous: Second Son, a third-person action adventure title from the Sony owned studio Sucker Punch. On the Xbox side, Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts has a dynamic, freerunning first-person shooter called Titanfall which will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on March 11. Each game takes advantage of the hardware both of these consoles have brought to the market and should help with the “no games” issue many consumers have.

Update: The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall will release on March 25, 2014

Update 2: The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall has been delayed until April 8, 2014 in North America and April 11, 2014 in Europe.
